PHISOMAG® - Novel Magnesium Hydroxide Suspension Technology

Technology licences are now available for negotiation for PHISOMAG®,  a novel process for the economical production of Magnesium Hydroxide aqueous suspensions from low-cost calmag powders.  Developed by AZARO TECHNOLOGY LIMITED at Dublin Institute of Technology,  in Ireland,  magnesium hydroxide supensions produced by the PHISOMAG® process are highly dispersed,   easily pumpable with excellent stability and reactivity.   They are a safer and more efficient substitute for lime and caustic soda in neutralisation of acidic waste waters,  pH control in biological effluent treatment processes,  metal precipitation and flue gas desulphurisation.   They are also a highly available source of Magnesium for agricultural and horticultural applications.
  • Safer handling and no danger of over-treatment as PHISOMAG® suspensions buffer at pH 9.5-10 (lime-pH 12.6; caustic soda-pH 13.5)
  • 38% more neutralising capacity than caustic soda;  46% more than lime
  • Sludge disposal problems are greatly reduced:
  • by-product of sulphuric acid neutralisation with PHISOMAG® suspensions is a solution of magnesium sulphate (epsom salts).    Lime produces a heavy calcium sulphate sludge

when used for metal precipitation,  PHISOMAG® suspensions produce a lower volume of sludge than either lime or caustic soda
